Bude, once a town renowned for many shipwrecks, is a traditional and beautiful seaside resort located on the North Cornish coastline and has been welcoming visitors since the Victorian times. With its spectacular scenery, natural surroundings of rock pools and sandy beaches and welcoming atmosphere, this sophisticated town is sure to captivate the heart of all travellers who stop by.

With lots of activities on offer, it is up to you how active you want to be: the beaches are safe and sandy – great for families as most have lifeguard cover in the Summer months. As well as being loved by surfers and swimmers alike this area is also a haven for walkers too, with its rugged Cornish coastline.

The town boasts an assortment of shops and recreational activities, a large supermarket and an indoor heated swimming pool. If you visit in late August then be sure not to miss the Jazz festival frequented by many international guests.

Fishing and sailing are also popular activities on the Bude canal, an engineering triumph of the 19th century. Highly commended is Stratton Museum where exhibits include items and photographs on the unique canal.

The nearby village of Stratton is famed for the Battle of Stratton in 1643, and the 7’4” Cornish giant Anthony Payne who was enlisted as a bodyguard to the Royalist Sir Bevil Grenville. More places in close proximity worth a visit are Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, one of the best-known places in Cornwall.

Also highly acclaimed is Lundy island with its spectacular scenery teeming rich with wildlife.
