Ashburton, an ancient tin mining stannary town in south Devon is in a great location on the fringes of Dartmoor and close to the beautiful south Devon coastline.

The parish church of St Andrews is a distinguished building and the rebuilding was funded by members of the tinners and wool merchant guilds. One of the oldest buildings in Ashburton is the Chapel of St Lawrence which has in the past been a private chapel for the Bishop of Exeter, a grammar school, a library and today it is a visitors centre open from May to September.
